    Dr. Luther Brady served as an innovator and educator in the field of radiation oncology for over 50 years. In the spirit of his legacy, The American College of Radiation Oncology (ACRO) Resident Committee is offering a funding opportunity to Resident members of ACRO in order to enhance education and the educational environment for radiation oncology residents. The committee is acutely aware of the benefit that monetary support for small projects can provide. Therefore, the committee will offer funds to support 4 educational projects, which are traditionally difficult to fund through standard research mechanisms.

    Scholarship Details

    • ACRO will provide four $1,000 grants for education projects in radiation oncology.
    • Of the $1,000 awarded, $500 will be appropriated towards funding the research project, and $500 will be awarded 3 months later in a second installment for the project or can be used to travel to the ACRO annual meeting (The Radiation Oncology Summit).
    • The $500 portion for the project funding will be provided within 2 weeks of receipt of the award.
    • Award recipients will be notified by September 15.
    • Recipients must either present at the ACRO Annual Meeting February 27-29, 2020 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, or submit an interim report to the Resident Committee by that date. The final report must be given by mid-May.
    • The travel portion of the scholarship will be provided after the presentation at The Radiation Oncology Summit or after the report is provided.
    • Final acceptance and disbursement of funds is subject to review by the ACRO Resident Committee.

    Eligibility

    • Applicants must be members of ACRO and in good standing in a U.S. residency program.
    • Applicants must list a primary mentor for their project.
    • All submissions must include the following:
      • Application Form

      • Project Expenses
      • Applicant’s Curriculum Vitae
      • Program Director Acknowledgement Form
      • Letter of Support from the Project Mentor
    • Applications must be submitted by 11:59 PM on September 30th, 2019 via this online form and the supporting materials can be uploaded directly from the form.
    • Any additional materials that need to be submitted separately may be emailed to the ACRO office: info@acro.org (with your name and the grant you are applying for in the subject line).
    • Submissions will be assessed, and scholarships will be awarded by members of the ACRO Resident Committee with input from the Board of Chancellors as needed.
